The Redemption of Medicine: The Road From Troas
“ 8 Crossing through Mysia instead, they came down to Troas. 9. There one night, Paul had a vision. A man of Macedonia stood before him and invited him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.”
-Acts of the Apostles 16: 8-9. (NAB)
Troas is a town, in modern-day Turkey, where St. Luke (The Physician) meets St. Paul (The Evangelist) for, what is likely to be, the first time in the Bible. Troas represents a crossroads where two disciples, with the Holy Spirit's guidance, changed their own course, and the course of history. Troas represents the place where faith and medicine first converged.
We believe that medicine needs to change its course to include God again. We've found ourselves, here and now, at another crossroads.
